This looks like it will be a super interesting volume on what happens to Western political thought if we include animals - wish I had time to write a chapter on Thoreau. Get your abstracts in by 31 January!

In 2023 we won the right for academic staff to be allocated the time it takes to do the work they are assigned. (we had to make that explicit?!!) We gathered evidence but management argues their view is enough to decide how long work (they don’t do) takes. This is #wageTheft!

Thanks so much American Academy of Religion! I'm super excited to use this grant for travel to the Thomas Merton Center and to William Melvin Kelley's papers at Emory University. It's for a project on Thomas Merton's reading in the politics of the 1960s, and I can't wait to get to the archives!

The NTEU welcomes new governance principles for universities. The current system is completely broken. We will keep fighting to make universities exemplary employers. As a starting point that means reducing insecure work, ending wage theft and safer workloads.
