Iain Aitch I have read that Santander staff reckon when "took over" Abbey National the forever guarantee was voided. I don't think the ombudsman would be impressed anyway but look at the Companies House documentation - it was just a name change.

Iain Aitch It turns out that, even though it made an about turn last time it tried this stunt, Santander still fell foul of FOS: financial-ombudsman.org.uk/decision/DRN24… (Wish I had known - a fairly easy £100!)
