The adoption of the Migration & Asylum Pact by European Parliament is a milestone in EU's efforts to protect our external borders & manage illegal migration. We are proud of EPP's leadership in reaching this deal, sending a clear message to smugglers that states decide who enters the 🇪🇺

Thanks to 🇧🇪 Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU 2024 for the invitation to SCIFA EU Council, where I highlighted the EU Agency for Asylum - EUAA's ongoing programme to operationalise the Pact and contribute to building a stronger & more resilient 🇪🇺 asylum & reception system.

Glad to take part for ICMPD Policy & Research in this IstitutoLuigiSturzo discussion on the future of the EU’s migration pact. If MEPs vote it down in today’s vote, officials will have to fundamentally rethink the basic centrist approach to securing an EU-wide agreement on migration.
