I have the mighty Terry Sejnowsky in HLP studio today to explain how well (or not) AI & LLMs recreate human brains, also key info on Ketamine, Schizophrenia, Sleep States & more. Terry is a luminary in Computational Neuroscience, also former colleague & Salk Institute & friend.

This one will get your head around how AI is sure to help us far more than hurt us including in development of new treatments for neurological diseases.

After researching the HLP episode out now & from speaking with expert on endocrine disruptors, Dr Shanna Swan (episode coming), it’s clear we should all avoid drinking from plastic bottles & handling receipts. The negative effects are real. (Occasional exposure not an issue).

Don’t be alarmed but do take measures as you can. Dr Swan informed about reduced testosterone, sperm counts, egg quality & altered fetal development when pregnant mothers are exposed to phthalates BPAs etc.

Longevity in action. Larry Lewis (shown here at 99!) lived to be 106, and ran 6 miles+ every morning, rain or shine, even at 104. Check out what he says & see his take on what allowed him to maintain such vigor for so long. Respect!

Rapid neuroplasticity is possible with directed brain stimulation (combined with the right sensory and/or informational and/or emotional experience that is). Nolan Williams of Stanford Medicine who is doing incredible work with TMS, psychedelics & more Stanford Medicine

Tomorrow marks Episode 200 of the Andrew D. Huberman, Ph.D. podcast! It has been an incredible journey since our first episode on Jan 4, 2021. Grateful for our amazing team, who makes it all possible. And as Andrew always says, "Thank you for your interest in science!"

The whole business about endocrine disruptors is real & significant. Here are 4 ways to significantly reduce your exposure: 1) avoid drinking from plastic bottles 2) avoid handling receipts 3) avoid using non-stick cookware 4) avoid skin products w/fragrance (See thread below)

All I’m asking is that inpatients if possible get 20 minutes of natural sunlight each day in addition to standard medical treatment. This is not expensive, not hard to do and it’s definitely not a new therapy. Its what we used to do:

Dr Shanna Swan & others have been researching the negative impact of these on testosterone levels, egg quality, PCOS, sperm quality & fetal development for years. What was once “health food store nonsense” is well supported by the data. (See thread below)

Episode of the Huberman Lab podcast on microplastics and endocrine disruptors is at Hubermanlab.com -and episode with Dr Swan out soon. Don’t let people tell you this is woo-stuff. The data are compelling and the implications are meaningful.

When everything around them gets chaotic some people get really calm, other people get stirred into a frenzy. Welcome to the experiment…
