Admin remember your why is more than the students, but it is your entire staff. They are after all your most valuable resources.

There are more leaders in a school than just on the administrative team. Recognize and utilize the brilliance of the whole staff.

Leaders, you can’t take people where they need to go until you know where they’re at and what they need. This requires spending time with staff and listening.

High stress and anxiety cause the thought and reasoning parts of the brain to shut down so the brain can focus on fight or flight. Whether in person or online, we have to reduce anxiety for students and teachers for teaching/ learning to be effective.

26 million people work from home at least part time and we think it’s being savvy. 3 million Teachers have to do it during a pandemic and people want their pay cut since they think they’re not working. Teachers sure do put up with a lot of crap just to educate our youth.

Teachers have never asked or expected to be called heroes, superheroes, etc. because they know its just empty hyperbole, however, they would love to be treated with respect and like professionals.

Hopefully one take away for students is that life will have many 2020 moments. It will be how they handle them that matters.

Teachers have always had to endure a lot, that's why there's been a near 50% attrition rate every 5 years. But this year it is off the charts. I worry about the teaching professions going forward. If there isn't systemic changes to how teachers are treated, it may soon be 75%!

My self care thought for teachers is: treat yourself like someone you love.

I hope everyone is Thankful for our teachers and staff around the globe who work hard everyday to make an impact on the lives of their students.
