If 2018 taught us anything, it’s that voters are deeply concerned about their healthcare and making sure their families are protected. Today, General Assembly Democrats introduced a bill to expand Medicaid and bring healthcare to thousands of North Carolinians in need. #ncga

Expanding Medicaid would cover nearly 500,000 North Carolinians and bring $4 billion-worth of economic impact to the state, including thousands of new jobs. These are among the many reasons why 37 other states have already expanded. #ncga

Medicaid expansion doesn’t just affect those who will be newly covered. It will also reduce premiums and costs for everybody while improving public health outcomes such as combating the opioid crisis. #ncga

And the cost won’t be a problem. The federal government—which North Carolinians have already paid taxes to—covers 90% of the cost and the other 10% comes from a small assessment on providers. #ncga

Any way you look at it, a clean expansion of Medicaid is the right thing to do in North Carolina and now is the time to act. This is why we need people to keep active and stay vocal about their desire for quality, affordable healthcare in North Carolina. #ncga

LGBTQ North Carolinians ought to be outraged by the Republicans behind these attacks who are attempting to mislead voters about Cal Cunningham’s values. I’m proud to call Cal a friend, and am grateful for his commitment to achieving fair and equitable treatment for all.
