Oscar’s school have sent him a little postcard in the post to say they are looking forward to seeing him. Not gonna lie, that’s quite cute.

A ‘good’ time to post this I guess. I helped organise the collection of money for Christmas gifts for students without parental support for many years Who donated the largest gift in all the years I did it? The Islamic art circle. Living the best of British values.

We’ve had a brilliant response to our project and are so grateful to all of those who have come forward to share their experiences. If you are a care experienced parent and would like to take part, please get in touch 😊 The Leverhulme Trust Shirley Lewis

Fully funded with travel and accommodation. Nothing to stop you organising for some brilliant young people to go down and visit Oxford.

Sheffield city council: agreed to treat care experience as a protected characteristic in November 2023. Included it in their 4 year equality strategy in March 2024. It doesn’t have to take several years to implement after you’ve had your nice press statement.

Really don’t want to bash the increasing of a bursary because it’s always good but honestly, for an institution like University of Oxford this is a barely inflation rise to a rounding error on the overall operating costs of the institution.

York committing to another 4 years of this sector leading financial support for care leavers. Today is a good day. Forever proud of my Alma.

In today’s “places where a protected characteristic for care experienced people would make a material difference”. This document, its constant use of parents/family, and its consideration of protected characteristics. birthto5matters.org.uk/wp-content/upl… #EYFS

Really love that Helen has raised this. There is an evidence base behind the work of Unite Foundation to show it is effective. Safe and stable homes make a world of difference.

The plan for Friday at 3pm: date night, eat duck, drink wine. How Friday actually turned out: 8 hours in A&E, exploratory surgery for suspected appendicitis (it wasn’t) and morphine. 1/10 do not recommend.
