Volunteers from Howbery Park, including groups from @HRWallingford and The Ad Plain 🇬🇧 🇪🇸, did a great job at lunchtime last week, clearing up rubbish on the neighbouring field. Well done all, and thank you to Wallingford 1155 charity for the loan of the litter-picking equipment.

The redesigned pergola in the Flood Re Flood Resilient Garden has an integrated gutter that channels rainwater from surrounding rooftops down and into the garden via rainchains and a series of large reclaimed tanks. These help to slow the flow of rainwater into the garden.

We've a new addition to the park, it's a quince tree that has been planted in our Flood Resilient Garden. The tree was part of the original garden The RHS Chelsea Flower Show last year, and we're thrilled that it's flourishing in its new home here at Howbery Park.

In re-creating the Flood Resilient Garden, some of the structural elements from The RHS Chelsea Flower Show have been repurposed. The bridge has been made into a bench overlooking the pond, while the decking and fencing have been used to create bespoke tables and bench seating.

The Flood Resilient Garden is open to the public in its new home next to our café. The garden shows how it's possible, by carefully choosing plants and landscaping features, to create a beautiful outdoor space that offers defences against flooding. Open weekdays, free of charge.
