Sometimes I’m quick to say a book I like is inspiring, but if I don’t make changes in my life & community after reading it, then what did it really inspire? When I say it about this book though, I mean inspiring in an active sense. 🙏🏽to NYC Tw*tterati for sharing it with us ❤️

Every eviction is an act of violence. Whether it’s an eviction from a home, a tent, a camp. Every eviction is an act of violence. Whether it’s a pandemic, it’s summer, or it’s winter. Every eviction is an act of violence.

Kansas City Homeless Union made history today, winning at least 111 deeply affordable homes for people currently experiencing homelessness, good jobs, 500 hotel rooms to facilitate a transition to permanent housing, and a guaranteed seat at the table for future negotiations.

In two weeks, police in Chicago, Honolulu, and Minneapolis have shot and killed: Adam Toledo, 13 Travon Chadwell, 18 Anthony Alvarez, 22 Iremamber Sykap, 16 Daunte Wright, 20 All Black and brown boys. Killed by a police state that is irredeemable, let alone capable of reform.

When Philando Castile was murdered by police at a traffic stop in 2016, Minnesota invested $12 million in police training. Where was that training when they killed Daunte Wright just 10 miles from where Derek Chauvin sits on trial for murdering George Floyd?

We need to release our stockpile of unused AstraZeneca vaccines now. In India alone, almost 350,000 COVID-19 cases were reported today. When people in India and elsewhere desperately need help, we can't let vaccines sit in a warehouse, we need to get them where they'll save lives

Some of you aren’t getting it—It is our money, our bombs. We leveled the press buildings. We destroyed the homes. We are murdering Palestinian children.

I remember how media outlets used to pit Naomi Osaka against Serena Williams as the more "respectable" of the two. Now she's reminding y'all again that you can't control her either.

IT’S TIME FOR A TENANT RECKONING. Show up for tenants on Sat., June 26, at noon to demand a Kansas City that invests in our communities & divests from our oppressors. That happens with the People’s Housing Trust Fund. Let us know if you can make it: bit.ly/35EmwXj

Read the whole thread for the breakdown and analysis but this point is key. We’re talking about generational trauma not temporary inconvenience!

Why is there now a fence around City Hall? And restricted access to the Mayor’s floor? Why have some of the boards and commissions cut off public comment? What’s with all the attacks on democratic process?

This Saturday's hottest event will be the KC Tenants Power candidate forum: 2-5 PM at the Mohart Center. 14 confirmed candidates, repping at-large and in-district council races, plus the Mayor. A little civics education, good ole fashioned political discourse, and much more!

Missouri: Get out and Vote NO on Amendment 4! ❌🗳️ This summer, Decarcerate KC has been connecting with our community about the dangers of Amendment 4. Many KC residents agree: this amendment strips away local decision-making and undermines our control over public safety.
