This thread is less about feminism, and more about primary Love Language. Some people need "Words of Affirmation" like they need oxygen, while others could care less about verbal appreciation. #knowyourspouse

I'm really digging the "Whispers in the Wilderness" 5-day devotional. The best part is Ryan Leak and his brief YouTube video at the beginning for each day of devotion.

This debate is quite intriguing to me because of the cultural differences. Black wives are expected to work full-time, whereas white wives traditionally stay at home, generally speaking. Surprised that in modern economic times, white men still want their wives to stay at home. 🤔

I hear what you're saying, especially if the husband’s primary Love Language is "Quality Time". But I think that's when husbands need to speak up & advise their wives to make the necessary adjustments at work, so work isn't an interference. And your last paragraph is spot on! 👌🏿

I think women in leadership roles simply have a hard time "turning it off" when they get home and interact with their man. And I'm not saying it's impossible, just saying it's difficult and needs intent focus to NOT do it.

White culture: "boss babe", "girl boss". Black culture: "independent woman". Same thing, and men in both cultures are receiving the message, "We'll what would you NEED me for?! 🤔" Men need to be needed, in BOTH cultures.

Underrated response! A woman generally has to choose a path in life: ambitious, career woman OR wife/mother. Trying to succeed at doing both well, one will usually fail. (And don't @ me about the MANY exceptions to this rule!)

"Women who want careers should pursue them." Absolutely. It's absolutely okay! But the problem arises when outsiders are constantly prodding, "Why haven't you gotten married and started having kids yet?!" Leave those women alone...

We've been around, just on here lurking every now and then. LOL When we ended the podcast at the end of 2019 due to low interest in what we were offering (way before Covid hit!), we just stopped posting on here. It's all love, but thanks for checking on us! 😎👌🏿

I understand the "take care of their kids" part, but not understanding the "a woman who will be loyal" part. Does this imply working women are generally unfaithful? Or is this implying a woman simply being loyal to the family mission, by choosing to be a stay-at-home mom??

Quit why? Got married at 21/22 respectively. Had 3 children when we were 25, 29, and 34. One set of grandparents were just under 3 hours away, the other 3.5 hours away. We had a REALLY good home daycare that kept all 3. Definitely had more energy for parenting at 25 vs. 34.

Is this suggesting that 100% of moms are fit to be stay-at-home moms? Are some women actually great moms, BECAUSE they work outside of the home, and then maximize time away from work being engaged with their children?

So folks would really be okay with the husband working 2 jobs (or even 3 or 4!), just so the wife can stay at home with the child(ren) vs. the wife getting a full-time job herself? Is the husband’s quality of life, work/life balance just not a priority?

I think it's projection to suggest that a career-focused woman in her 20's is gonna automatically stop being ambitious once she has a baby. Also with inflation, a full-time job (not a side hustle), may be needed. Dropping out of the workforce for 5-12 years is career torpedoing.

Long, but good video. I appreciated the context. 👌🏿 Just wondering if there's any room to add black men's take on the state of marriage and "boss babes", whom we commonly refer to as "independent women" in our culture? Or is this a "[conservative] whites only" conversation?
