Today Attorney General's Office has announced that Anthony Rogers has been named as the preferred candidate to be the next Chief Inspector of His Majesty’s Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate. He will appear in front of the @commonsjustice on 28 January for a pre-appointment hearing.

Today we have published an inspection report following a review of Crown Prosecution Service cases featured in Victims’ Commissioner London’s London Stalking Review. Stalking is a serious offence and we will conduct a thematic inspection in 2025 which will build on these findings hmcpsi.justiceinspectorates.gov.uk/report/an-exam…

Grateful for HMCPSI's response to recommendations in my London Stalking Review, including assessing cases that were sent to the Crown Prosecution Service. I am delighted that they have now announced a full thematic investigation into the CPS' handling of stalking in 2025. My full statement:

Today we have published a follow-up report looking at the performance of Crown Prosecution Service Areas. Whilst casework has generally improved, concerns remain over quality varying across the country hmcpsi.justiceinspectorates.gov.uk/report/area-in…

A huge congratulations to Anthony Rogers on becoming HMCPSI Chief Inspector. Having worked together for years I have always valued his determination to ensure victims are well treated by the justice system. I know he will do his utmost to support Crown Prosecution Service in delivering for victims

Our follow-up inspection to Crown Prosecution Service’s approach to county lines cases & using the National Referral Mechanism shows CPS are committed to these cases and while they have updated guidance, further improvements required to ensure all CPS Areas are consistent hmcpsi.justiceinspectorates.gov.uk/report/nationa…

Today we have published a report into Crown Prosecution Service’s self-assessment process of its casework. We are urging CPS to consider, develop and implement a new approach to how they assess casework quality. hmcpsi.justiceinspectorates.gov.uk/report/individ…

Today we have published a follow-up report following our 2023 inspection into Crown Prosecution Service’s management of domestic abuse cases. Progress has been made but further improvements are required to tackle this traumatic crime and better support victims hmcpsi.justiceinspectorates.gov.uk/report/a-follo…

We were delighted to welcome to Office of The Director Of Public Prosecutions to HMCPSI headquarters where we discussed the value of independent inspection and shared HMCPSI’s 25 years’ experience of inspection to assist the Kenyan delegation in developing their inspection approach.

Today with HMICFRS, we have published a joint inspection report on the building of prosecution cases by the police and Crown Prosecution Service. Improvements are required, aided by the National Criminal Justice Board publishing a clear strategy for all parts of the criminal justice system

We have published our third report into Crown Prosecution Service’s quality of letters to complainants and victims of crime. Improvement is still required and inspectors have made four new recommendations to help turn round performance hmcpsi.justiceinspectorates.gov.uk/report/a-follo…
