Yesterday I learned of friends leaving: artist/educator leaving because it’s a mess; a wonderful older couple moving north because FL politics and lack of safety for their Trans grandson; a black, queer couple who feel unsafe; a professor who can’t teach truth. I’m mad and sad.

I wish people clamored to endorse the rights of our neighbors the way they do for the Jags. It’d be inspiring to see biz, government, philanthropy say WE ENDORSE ‘the right of our Transgender neighbors’ or ‘uplifting our public schools’ or ‘Black lives matter’ or ‘cease fire’.

I’ve not been a fan of spending on a new stadium. BUT I did appreciate how vocal residents have been about the linked community investment. I’m NOT shocked that it’s this funding-for THE CITY-that our council is rejecting. As a body, CC doesn’t listen or care. This is not new.
