I’m curious why CNN is using “identifies as gay” regarding Jussie Smollett when the traditional practice would be to simply say “is gay”? There’s an undercurrent of suspicion in using “identifies as” - as if maybe it is one more lie.

Abusive: harassing lesbians who refuse to have sex with trans identifying males. Mean: rewriting history to make gay events into trans events. Cruel: telling GNC boys that their behavior means that they’re actually girls and persuading them to mutilate their bodies.

This has not aged well.

“Believe victims,” “believe women,” etc. has to mean “take accusations seriously, treat accusers with respect, investigate, don’t dismiss out of hand” not “immediately assume whatever an accuser says is accurate.” Pushing the latter is an egregious moral and strategic mistake.

The woke taunt that someone is "on the wrong side of history" can only mean that someone is "on the wrong side of fashion," because we can know the present but not the future.

The elephant in the room for media malfeasance discussions is that many reporters are simply not smart. They fall for hoaxes easily. Over and over and over again They are obviously not well read. That this is combined with a completely unwarranted arrogance compounds the problem.
