Glad that John Tanner drew my attention to this rare image of a horse gin above a clock dial National Coal Mining Museum. Reminds me of interpreting Anne Lister’s Shibden mines for the Gentleman Jack tv series a few years ago. One of many great exhibits for all to see at the museum. @lynnfinlay1

Tonight's Barnsley Civic Trust talk in conjunction with Barnsley Archives & Local Studies is delivered by Rob Younger and focusses on the Parkway cinema, the history of the site, and his life in cinema. It's in the Town Hall at 6.30pm. All welcome.

Brian Elliott National Coal Mining Museum @lynnfinlay1 Ex Miner P&S History John Tanner It's a wonderful museum. We moved nearby 2 yrs ago & have visited 3 times since with guests. Superb guides as you say. Time Tunnel sounds like we should return!

All of us at National Coal Mining Museum were proud to host a very special event today: the launch of Brian Elliott’s major new publication ‘Miners at War’. Thank you Paul Brookes for such poignant poetry readings and Andy Featherstone for sharing his remarkable memorabilia collection too.

Alongside today’s book launch, Mayor Cllr Darren Byford & Brian Elliott officially revealed new permanent displays here at National Coal Mining Museum. They’re dedicated to the stories of miners who contributed so much in wartime, including the remarkable ‘Tunnellers’ of the First World War.
