Being Mayor of the City of Houston has been a joy of a lifetime. I would like to take a moment this morning to thank Houstonians for giving me, a kid who grew up in this city, a chance to transform our city for the better. On this final day of 2023, my desk is now clear.

UPDATE: Houston Education Association-TSTA/NEA union president Michelle Williams Michelle Williams is expected to meet with an attorney this week following a "Letter of Concern" from Houston ISD. The vocal critic of the district has been removed from her teaching post and faces termination.

Women working full time, year-round earn 84 cents for every dollar men make. If you include part-time and part-year workers, the gender wage gap widens to 78 cents. The gap is even wider for Black women and women of color. It’s way past time to close the gap. #HD146 #txlege

More important than being a candidate is the fact that I’m a parent and product of HISD. I was in this fight before I ever even considered running for office. I’ve always shown up, and will continue to do so.
