It made me feel just a little bit better when I encountered a bear on a hike that I could tell it was a black bear. It was still larger than I wanted it to be. And thankfully, not interested in us dumb humans (who left the area immediately).

⚠️Update: Small wildfire (0.016-ha) south of Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course is now classified as UNDER CONTROL. This means the wildfire is contained & expected to be extinguished. The wildfire was caused by a lightning strike. 👉There is no risk to communities at this time.

🚫Moraine Lake Road is now closed for the season.   🚌Shuttle service to Lake Louise Lakeshore and Moraine Lake is also done for the season. Thanks to everyone who took a shuttle with us!   Roam Public Transit has service to Lake Louise all winter: ow.ly/FUAC50L3ChR   📷: danschyk

⚠️Please be advised there is an active wildfire burning in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park near Kent Ridge in Kananaskis. Crews are working to assess, contain and respond to the situation. Albertans should avoid the area. There is currently no indication of threat to Hwy 742.

Alberta Wildfire is responding to wildfire CWF167 in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park. It is classified as out of control at two hectares in size. Three helicopters and eight firefighters are currently responding to this wildfire, with more crews on the way.

🧵Fire update (1/3) ⚠️Parks Canada is currently actioning a spot fire on the east side of Banff Avenue, inbetween the road and the Banff Avenue/ Trans-Canada Highway interchange. There are currently one medium and 4 intermediate helicopters assisting.
