A disappointingly grey and murky start here after sun was forecast, so I'm enjoying spring on my mantelpiece instead. #Derbyshire

Finally ... sunshine revealing a field of gold! I've been gardening all day while huge bumblebees enjoy the flowers. Windy now and I'm tackling a mountain of weeds but I've made a little progress and I have to remind myself that's what is important. #dandelions #Derbyshire

A good day. A creative morning and then an afternoon tackling weeds. Finally the sun appeared and we found a slightly sheltered spot to sit in and enjoy a pre supper drink and our wonderful view. #April #Derbyshire

Very welcome late arriving sunshine making my kitchen table flowers glow this evening as I prepared supper. #flowers # Derbyshire

Our walk took us past abandoned quarry workings. We saw orange tip butterflies (that eluded my camera). Bizarrely I could also hear a peacock calling - their cries quite unmistakable. The engine house at Middleton Top is visible on the horizon. #Wirksworth #Derbyshire

A little more weeding achieved today after our trip out. I'm pleased to have managed to reveal plants apparently thriving from amongst the grass. #gardening #Derbyshire

A fun day at the British Quilt and Stitch Village, Uttoxeter Racecourse. Learning some different textile techniques. My first attempts at machine embroidery and work in progress with the hare. #sewing #Uttoxeter

A busy day but I found time to finish the stitching project I began yesterday at a workshop run by Mary Taylor at the Quilt and Stitch Village, Uttoxeter Racecourse. Lots of fun and my favourite subject! #sewing #CrazyMaryCrafts #Uttoxeter

St George’s Day. A damp start but the air is very still with no trace of a breeze. Birdsong surrounds me. Suddenly a curlew flies overhead, a rare sighting here, a joyous start to my day. Church later. My son aged 8 first swam a mile on this day, his great grandfather’s birthday.

Playing! Tiny paper folds, transfer dyed fabric - inspired by a session on Japanese folded patchwork. Still very much work in progress. #mixedmedia #SundayAfternoon #Derbyshire

Celebrating #StGeorgesDay and #NationalAsparagusDay with a quiche made using English asparagus, new potatoes, local farmer's eggs, thinnings of our self sown lettuce and our first rhubarb of the year for dessert. #eatlocal #Derbyshire

Sitting piecing my tiny squares together. It's been a very busy day but I've ticked loads of varied jobs off my 'to do' list. Hoping for a better sleep tonight. #Derbyshire
