If I facilitated a "what's next?" brainstorming sesh on Zoom for independents and democracy reformers, would you want to participate?

Extreme partisan Democrats now claiming Trump cheated and the election was stolen is... a bit ironic.

Democratic Party leadership scolded all kinds of people and organizations for "ruining" democracy by not getting on board with their coronation of Biden and Harris. We thought it was a bad strategy to beat Trump. They got their way, and they lost. They owe an apology.

This is spot on. But the truth of the Harris campaign was this: they couldn't focus on a positive vision for the future because they didn't HAVE a positive vision for the future. All they had was "beat Trump." For millions of Americans of all stripes, that wasn't enough.

If I've learned one thing in politics, it's that blaming voters for a loss today is a recipe for failure tomorrow.

We can't fix millions of years of evolutionary biology. We *can* fix the inclusiveness of our electoral system, our incentives, our media, and our desire to build a real, unifying vision for America.

To all the Dem leaders and strategists openly criticizing the party now, after the predictable and avoidable second loss to Trump — Where were you in January when it mattered? This post-election pile-on is just a weak attempt to hide your cowardice.

For everyone who spent the last decade claiming now “isn’t the time” for democracy reform and independent political movements, uh… your way didn’t work. We’ll drive for a while, thanks.
