BREAKING: Julie Kusiek has gone back on her promise to keep armed and uniformed police out of schools and supporting the motion. She is the deciding vote. With her breaking her promise SROs will be returning to Edmonton Public Schools.

I know that saying “I’m disappointed” are not strong enough words to describe what the Government of Alberta did to democracy today. Local autonomy is about to be shoved out the door. They want local governments to be an extension of the Premier’s rule. Ugly. Ugly. Ugly.

Youth sports teams still ask for volunteer and uniform deposits in cheque form. It's 2024. Parents under the age of 40 do not have cheques, just like we don't have printers.

As a PhD who has researched my little face off and filled out more grant applications than I can count, this is horrifying to me... I can't even describe how dangerous this is to academic freedom and the amazing research happening in Alberta.

For those in the back: if your loyalty to this country depends on the capital gains inclusion rate — one that’s still lower than it was in the 1980s and 1990s — then you were never loyal to it in the first place.
