A fun fact from today's game of #DND for young adventurers: The underside of a crab is called its apron. Our 10-year-old arcane archer needed to know so that she could tell me where she was aiming her longbow shot.

Today in The Hero Workshop, our druid realized her party was surrounded by evil-doers and warned, "I don't think we should pick a fight. There are seven of them and five of us. Last time I checked, seven was greater than five!" We love it when adventurers strategize with math!

Today in The Hero Workshop, our heroes explored the wilderness of The Lurkwood. They stumbled across an abandoned owlbear cub and have set out to investigate the fate of its mother. What creature do you think was responsible for the attack on the owlbear den?

Our heroes lost an NPC companion in combat today. They collected his belongings to return to his family and found the NPC's stone cameo brooch. I asked the heroes who or what Kaelen's (AKA Mr. Fancy Pants) cameo looked like. Without missing a beat, one hero replied: "Himself."

Today in The Hero Workshop, our heroes heard about some kobolds who were taken into custody, accused of planning to steal fish from the market. "What!? It's just fish!" exclaimed the fighter. "There are tons of fish around! Anyway, do they need some food? I have extra."

When there are a lot of enemies in combat, I label them with letters to tell them apart. Overheard in today's combat encounter: 10yo Archer: I think goblin E is Emo. 10yo Barbarian: What's Emo? 10yo Ranger: I don't know... I think it's some kind of animal...

It’s the end of Day 4 of our first week of Hero Workshop Summer Camp, and our Game Masters haven’t lost dice yet! Will we make it all the way to the end of the week? Only time will tell.

From today’s game of #DND with young adventurers. Me: “After you smite, the Baron has fewer than half his hit points! He is bloody!” Bard: “We should probably make a note or—“ Paladin: “I GOT IT!” (Grabs a red marker and stabs the Sahuagin Baron token.) “There! He’s bloody.”

I'm so proud of one of our groups of 10yo heroes! They were trapped, and their only means of escape was to crack the code to a magical lock—a 5×5 futoshiki puzzle. It took them almost an hour, but all five heroes stayed focused on teamwork and broke the code together!

“Can I tell the dryad I’m sorry and ask her to stop attacking us?” “You can try! Roll persuasion at disadvantage since you did light the forest on fire.” “… I got a 4.” “She can’t hear you over the sound of the forest fire, which she saw you light.” #DND The Hero Workshop
