This is wild: ProPublica just did a critical story on Paul Newby, the Republican Chief Justice of NC's State Supreme Court. Matt Mercer, the NCGOP comms guy, demanded they drop the story, and threatened ProPublica that they would get Trump to retaliate if it was published.
