it’s suicide prevention month and all i have to say about that as someone who has survived many attempts and lived with chronic ideation is: we cannot and should not seek to prevent suicide without committing ourselves to sustaining life by meeting people’s fundamental needs.

Masking is a disability rights issue. Not wearing a mask in crowded spaces automatically excludes many disabled people from accessing the world. I just want disabled people to be able to leave the house.

I’m begging people to understand that privilege plays a significant role in one’s ability to survive as a disabled person. In Canada - it also plays a role in whether or not you end up having euthanasia “suggested” to you as a treatment option. 🧵/1

If covid magically disappeared today, we’d still have to contend with the trauma that our loved ones are fine with killing and (further) disabling us just as long as they weren’t inconvenienced. And I don’t know how I’m supposed to heal from that.
