Sadly, it looks like one of Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s legacies at U.S. Department of Transportation will be doing nothing — not a thing — to address the acute dangers caused by oversized cars.

There's a pervasive myth that we American car owners cover the costs of the public roads we use (planning, design, construction, maintenance). It's so far from the truth. We're constantly the recipients of massive infrastructure bailouts.

This is a big deal! AFAIK it's the closest any state has come to requiring speed-limiting tech on new cars. SB 961 would require all cars sold in California to have Intelligent Speed Assistance tech that warns drivers if they go 10 mph+ over the posted speed limit.

This happens so often: I'm the first to arrive at an intersection and while I am coming to a complete stop a driver to my right or left approaches the intersection, very briefly slows down, and then drives straight through.
