The Ireland of today is better because of Nell's fearless feminism and political, literary & journalistic work, which challenged the deep-seated inequality in our society, markedly for women. The work for true equality continues & we stand on the shoulders of giants, like Nell.

In 1993 when the Srs of Our Lady of Charity exhumed 155 women to make way for a property development, Nell McCafferty was amongst the few who put their heads above the parapet to call this out for what it was. Rest in power 💜
