It's now time for England & Wales to deliver on #SafeAccessZones

Elsewhere, positive steps are being taken to implement Safe Access Zones. This week in Scotland, MSPs voted overwhelmingly in support of their implementation at Stage 1, and in Ireland they've passed their final stage and will be implemented in the coming months.

Over the past 365 days countless women have suffered harassment and intimidation when accessing #abortion care. The law is meant to protect them, but this government has failed them. Women have waited long enough, it's time for the Government to stop dragging its feet.

Today marks one year since Safe Access Zones became law in England & Wales...yet we still don't have a date for when they will be implemented. Promises of 'Spring 2024 at the latest' have not materialised.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Safe Access Zones Bill has passed Stage 1 by 123 votes to one!👏This bill tabled by MSP Gillian Mackay will stop harassment outside abortion clinics in Scotland. We are one step closer to ending intimidation and abuse towards women who are simply accessing care in Scotland.

The benchmark income for destitution is £95 a week. Unemployment benefit is £85 a week.

We are thrilled to announce for the second year in a row, our partnership with Wellbeing of Women to co-fund one Entry Level Scholarship (ELS) to provide a single candidate with up to £20,000 for research lasting up to one year.

Thank you The Church of England who this morning made it clear in UK House of Commons they do not think women should be criminalised for abortion. NC1 to the Criminal Justice Bill will deliver that change .

As I point out in this piece - when they spent months trying to convince us to water down our law, the Home Office lost. Repeatedly. To MPs from their own party. They don't have the power to undo it. Women and abortion providers deserve the protection parliament voted for.
