Effy decided it was time her babies saw the big wild world. Unfortunately I forgot to switch on the outside cameras, but here they are returning from their first taste of rain. Baby 3, as usual, was last to come in, and spent some time thoughtfully pooing up the door step.😊

Wanted to see who was using the garden gate... quite a few it seems! Not pleased that more slugs and snails are invading this feeding station now there's 2 entrances. You'd think there was enough natural vegetation outside to tempt them, but no 🤔

It's only when I see these photos that I realise how he's improving. The poor lad is captive for such a long time though. Daily treatment now not every other day. Tiddy bits of special cream placed on his nose, ear tips and bits of his head daily now. X

If you see a hedgehog of any size out in the daytime please act fast. Although he may not look it he's very sick and needs urgent treatment from a rescue, NOT a vet (who care for domestic animals, not wildlife). Bring him indoors and phone a rescue immediately.

Captivity is terrifying and stressful so only done to save life. Unless the babies visiting your garden aren't eating, leaving stinky poo, or limping, they are best in the wild until winter (Nov/Dec). Supply dry kitten food and clean water nightly; they still have time to grow.

It’s only January and this Hoglet, not even 250gms could have had his skull sliced open & his ears cut off by an ignorant human wielding a Strimmer!
