Greg Abbott Here's the problem-83% of my property taxes goes to 'school taxes'. But it doesn't go to my local schools, it goes to the state, which then redistributes the funds to the schools. The local schools don't get enough funding, so they pass multi-million dollar bond packages, which

Why is it hard to keep 100% of the staff in struggling schools? Campus leaders work throughout the year to ensure educators feel emotionally valued. We need help from #txlege to ensure they feel financially valued. Greg Abbott, Dade Phelan, Dan Patrick -- Help our teachers by

I’m all for enhanced safety & security but initial estimates for panic buttons in all @sbisd classrooms is at least $5M and as high as $10M. Team Bettencourt Joan Huffman Mike Morath Greg Abbott What happened to your promise of fully funding these requirements?

Julie Hinaman (@juliehinaman) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Disappointing that Greg Abbott is vetoing good, unrelated legislation + holding public school funding/teacher raises hostage in order to force unwanted voucher/inflated bureaucracy scheme. Either vouchers stand alone on their own merit or not. Dade Phelan Brad Buckley #txed

@ManoForStateRep Happy about this meeting because SBISD teachers not seeing a raise this year is shameful and unacceptable.

Not listing public education funding, accountability reform, school safety, teacher pay or special-Ed funding demonstrates a lack of awareness & support for 5.5 million children. Some can be bought & paid for, but not a majority of Texans. So it begins..

Morath claims $7M in “new” funding for Spring Branch ISD. The “new” money is really just SBISD keeping a tiny bit more of the taxes we raise locally before we send our recapture payment to Austin which I’ll remind everyone was $80M last year. Our money and other district’s recapture

Thank you, Greg Abbott and Mano DeAyala, for your time discussing SBISD and public education financing. I explained to our Gov how painful $35M in cuts were to the Spring Branch ISD community and how much this community cares about our schools.

Team Bettencourt @Lujan405 Denton ISD To clarify, the SBISD superintendent did not put out “inflammatory statements” but rather honest communication about upcoming cuts if the legislature failed to approve additional funding for public education. The legislature failed, and SBISD has made $35M in cuts as described.

Team Bettencourt, what is inflammatory is your ongoing attack on hard-working teachers in the district in which you reside Spring Branch ISD. Your unwillingness to raise the basic allotment is downright unpatriotic. You and Greg Abbott have failed young Texans #txlege Spring Branch Academic Institute
