My mum is combining her two favourite things and running 60km for her 60th birthday to raise money for wildlife: justgiving.com/fundraising/ke…

This is an important piece of information. I have been repeating it for years. It remains true. Especially if you work in sport. You may already know. 👍 But just in case…. Pain and injury are not the same. 🤔 #thepaincoach #pain ACPSEM

This is such an important message. I see a frighteningly high amount of under fuelling in endurance athletes. At best you’ll under perform, at worst a host of potential metabolic & injury issues lay in wait. It’s like putting a racing car together & trying to run it on fumes.

Alternatively if you like long slow duration runs please keep doing them. They are good for your health and maybe, just maybe they make your feel good.

Wow BBC News (UK), really irresponsible reporting. We haven’t exactly gotten over Covid yet and already publishing headlines like this. Do they not care how many peoples’ mental health they worsen?bbc.co.uk/news/health-59…

Already a massive fan of this book having read over half of it in two days (would have been all of it if not for my university research proposal deadline). Now there is a dog analogy I love it even more 🐶

Write this on a Post-It instead: Eat foods that you enjoy to fuel the work you are doing to find your personal definition of “strong.” Eat enough, always. Eat too much, sometimes. Eat too little, never 💪🧡

Such a great thread! Having suffered from overtraining in the past, I always panic if I feel fatigued. Knowing that it's actually 'flatness' and what to do about it has been a huge help.

A reader who exercises 20+ hours/week asked me how to fuel his training eating only single-ingredient foods. My thought: Don't. Add in some processed foods. Doing weird exercise stuff requires eating weird stuff! It's taxing to eat 4K+ cals/day of minimally-processed foods.

Makes me worry when I read this + replies. Tell this to an athlete (me + many) who suffers from severe cramps, PMS insomnia/mood issues 🤦‍♀️ Let's make sure we appreciate there is a huge amount of individual variation rather than making those that suffer feel they're making a fuss?

Your body is not like a machine. Cartesian dualism has been outdated for a long time. We are mind-body systems. You cannot separate the so-called hardware from the software. It’s all part of one magnificent and complex system.
