Licking at her ice cream, Lila found herself furrowing her brows. “. . . Sick of being pushed around. Literally pushed around.”

“Oh?” Lila was only half listening, watching the door to the parlour in case someone she recognised came in.

“I don’t know, you punched them?” Lila found herself returning her attention to Yelena, focusing on eating her ice cream.

“No offence, but that probably won’t work here.” Letting out a sigh, the teenager blew some hair out of her face. “It does matter what I do. Ignoring them only makes it worse.”

“Or they will suddenly want to be my friends because a black widow is something appealing to people.” Brows furrowed, Lila returning most of her attention to her ice cream.

“Oh no thanks. One of them found a photo in my locker with Auntie Nat. Had stalker spray painted on my locker after that.” Because of course she didn’t tell anyone that her dad was Hawkeye.

“. . . That’s definitely illegal. I’m just going to ask dad to let me go back to being home schooled.” Lila preferred having no social interaction, even if it meant that she spent time at home.

“My mom’s actually really smart, you know? And besides, I wouldn’t just be being taught by them.” When they’d been home schooled before, the Barton kids had had videos sent from SHIELD’s best tutors.

“That’s not so bad. I spent the first eleven years of my life with the avengers visiting being my biggest social interaction.”

“I have my brother, Coop. Besides, I am very happy as it is.”

“Then I cool off on my own. I’m used to it, Yelena.”

Ice cream now finished, Lila let out a soft sigh. “. . . Thanks for the ice cream.”

“. . . Do you want to come back to ours? Mom wouldn’t mind if you stayed for dinner.” Pausing, Lila found herself watching Yelena’s gaze.

“Technically you are my aunt. Just saying.” Pausing, Lila reached into her backpack to pull out her water bottle.

“Yes you are. You don’t just buy ice cream for people who you don’t at least care about.” Pausing, Lila pulled her phone out of her pocket.

Wincing at the yell, Lila shrunk back into her seat. “Sorry,”

She’d been searching for 𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐗𝐄𝐈 ⌁ for who knows how long.

Practicing her archery. It’s early, but she’s enjoying it.
