Here are my notes from reading the 115 page document 'The Reading Framework' from the DfE. Please do read the original document yourself, but these may be useful as a quick reference guide (just my own interpretation of the framework.) #readingframework

A child came up to me today and was very shy and timid. They said they were really sorry but they were not enjoying the book they had chosen and could they swap it. It led to a discussion about the rights of a reader.

Hello Twittersphere - without saying too much, on Monday there's going to be an opportunity from us for quite a few schools to get a large injection of books into their schools to help diversity their library offering. If you work in or are a school, I'd follow and keep peeled.

This is what colour mixing looks like in our KS1 sketchbooks. Exploring primary colours, mixing and discovering, using a range of paint, sorting colours and using them for a purpose. Paula Briggs @AccessArt #KS1sketchbooks #primaryart

Y2 have been inspired by the artist Kay Sekimachi. We looked at her work, made marks, drew leaves, thought about the questions we would ask her and independently created a sculpture. Paula Briggs @AccessArt

Y3 have revisited different printing techniques this week, inspired by the drawings of #AnnaAtkins. We have used safe print to create a repeated image and oil pastels to create a mono print. We used alliums as our source of inspiration and worked with cyan ink. Paula Briggs @AccessArt

The class loved making their ‘Little People, Big Dreams’ books - they have even written a page (or few!) inside about themselves, as if they have already achieved their dream. I think they look fab!✨ (Inspired by a post on here - please tag yourself below if it was you!)

If you're thinking about subject development next year, or are doing any subject-specific CPD when we go back next week, I've made PDF summaries of all the Ofsted subject research reports + the DfE reading framework on my website. marcrhayes.com Links in next tweet 👇

This is not what World Book Day should be about. Why is the underlying message being taken over by expensive fancy dress? Let’s take it back to the real meaning - promoting a love of books and stories and the magical world they can open up for children of all ages. #worldbookday
