These two muggles are on their way to becoming writing wizards! They were recognized this morning by our CAS, Ms. Davis, for earning a 9 on their very first 4th grade demand writing assessment! I’m so proud of them! MCPS_Sunrise

Ss developed their own graphic organizers to note evidence from the text to use when writing to describe a setting in depth. They did a great job with their description of Gringotts...and they didn’t even use their wands! MCPS_Sunrise J.K. Rowling

Ss collaborated w partners to explain structural elements of poetry on Nearpod open-ended questions, as well as I’d theme & character traits. Of course, this close to Halloween, we used the Sorting Hat poem & the lyrics to Monster Mash. No Tricks-just Treats! MCPS_Sunrise

Need any speedy gift wrapping done? These kiddos had 4 minutes to plan and wrap a very odd shaped item with a piece of paper and 3 small pieces of tape! Yay for Viribus! They got it done in less than a minute! 🎄@AshMMiller MCPS

Christmas is Among Us! Ss researched historical Christmas-related information yesterday. Today, they used their research to answer questions on Gimkit! Who is the Imposter? 🤷🏻‍♀️🎄MCPS_Sunrise

Before our Elf game today, Ss traveled to stations in the room to review Figurative Lang., Elements of Poetry, & Text Structures... ⁦MCPS_Sunrise⁩

...Then, Ss worked in house groups for 2 minutes-1 minute to plan & 1 minute to build-the tallest cup tree. The winning house won by 1 cup! They supported each other during stations and cheered each other on during the build. What an awesome group of kids! ⁦MCPS_Sunrise⁩

Today’s Elf Game was antler ring toss! Ss responded to comprehensions tasks in order to play. So much excitement after working so hard! 🎄MCPS_Sunrise

We’ve had the Greatest Show this week so far! Started w This or That where pros & cons of trapeze vs tightrope were hashed out. Then, Ss annotated, organized, & integrated info from 2 texts on PT Barnum to summarize learning. 🎪😃 @AshMMiller MCPS_Sunrise

Today, after solving our What Am I Wednesday riddle, Ss integrated details from their analysis of two texts to write a short summary about the life of P. T. Barnum...Did you solve the riddle?🤔🎪 MCPS_Sunrise

It’s Shark Week! @AshMMiller and I transformed our rooms into shark tanks for standards review, research projects, and FSA Math prep! The kids loved it!

Our research on Sharks is going “swimmingly!” Ss are collecting information to prep for writing their essays & for presentations. I love to hear them say, “Did you know...,” to their partners and to me when they just can’t wait to tell me what they’ve learned!

We are “glowing” over our students’ growth this year! @AshMMiller and I look forward to celebrating with them after testing is completed this week. 🎇❤️

Do you know the difference between a canyon and a geyser? My kids do! Just one of the many discoveries they made today as they began their virtual field trip to Yellowstone National Park! Next best thing to being there! 🦬🏕🏜

Finished up Shark Week last Friday with S presentations on a variety of sharks. They were so proud to share what they learned & I was so impressed with their speaking skills as they shared. They made great slides & even added videos and music to their slides!
