#SãoTomé endemic caecilians are two species that hybridize where they meet in the center of the island. Had so much fun working with Kyle O'Connell Kevin Mulder Ivan Prates and excited for future #hybridzone and ecological work with these amazing critters! doi.org/10.1111/mec.15…

Amphibians are weird and wonderful, but is this reeaally the name the media use to report on an endangered species? Can't imagine many people lining up to donate... This is Atretochoana all over again! 🤣 #flattering #savethefrogs news.sky.com/story/scrotum-…

I'm thinking about parietal eyes. This 'third eye' is still found among amphibians & reptiles, but was lost in #mammals. But around 1 in 50,000 humans have parietal foramina, due to gene mutations. We're all mutants really... [Pics: Wikipedia/AlphaWolf & Fernandez et al 2019]

Can you spot the tiny #Seahorse in this image? For this week's #FridayFact, did you know that the smallest seahorse species can be just 2cm when fully grown? Pictured is Hippocampus bargibanti, the first pygmy seahorse known to science.

Nice to receive an honorable mention for an image in the prestigious MontPhoto contest. "Sticky Situation" - a stick insect wandered into a perilous spot in front of a cane toad & freezes relying on its camouflage. The toad sits & waits for any movement to signal prey location.

Our 'frog pants' on CNN! Although it's more of a 'panties' than 'pants.' Or, as my French colleagues call it: 'le string télémetrique.' Either way, it helps us track frogs in the rainforest! Thanks to RN Nouragues Station de recherche des Nouragues - LEEISA - CNRS FundaciónJocotoco Centro Jambatu for hosting our research!
