Rivers are fun at any age and this was certainly the case for some children from Family Centre. They did an excellent job at finding minibeasts and showing us how great it is to sit and chill by a river. Time spent with nature is never wasted.

Happy to you all! Hapus i chi gyd!

Much like rivers, language forms a cornerstone of cultures and our links to nature. So we asked some of our volunteers to share a 'Happy Earth Day' message in their chosen language.

Very proud of our West Wales Rivers Trust team as always, doing fantastic work getting communities out spending time along rivers, training them to spot pollution & to be guardians of our rivers through our project!

We are raising money to put towards our work tackling pollution in the river Dee.

To train citizen scientists, build sustainable drainage, pick litter, mark drains, support farms and so much more.
And the best thing is, all support is doubled!!!

If we are going to see true improvements to rivers, we must accept that it is not just sewage which is an issue. The extent of agricultural pollution in W. Wales is a clear indication of the failure of both regulation & unfair pricing from supermarkets.1/3 theguardian.com/environment/20…

We are really excited to have the opportunity to work on this project to prove that 100% clearance can be achieved with sufficient effort and long-term funding. 3.5 years from now we hope to be showing this to Welsh Government!

It works to increase the depth of water through a shallow culvert, allowing fish to migrate through during lower flows.

This pass is part of our fisheries habitat restoration work with Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru | Natural Resources Wales Afonydd Cymru: The Rivers Trust of Wales 2/2

We finally(!) had a break in the weather today to install a fish pass on the Fferws Brook in in the River Loughor catchment.

This simple fish pass, known as 'baffles' is constructed from green oak timber. 1/2

An increasingly concerning issue with wetter seasons. Now that the SFS consultation has ended, I would like to see the same level of concern from farming bodies & WG to non-compliance to upcoming NVZs. The vast majority of farms we visit have significantly inadequate storage.

Fantastic news! Someone who genuinely cares. You're joining at a critical point for river health but one where, with real landscape scale change not short-term publicity projects, we can flip the current declines.

Look forward to working with you Huw Irranca-Davies!

If you don't look you can't see. The stat monitoring programme focuses on the impact of water companies and is blind to organic Phosphours, soil loss, coliforms and most of the cocktail of chemicals. The ecology of our rivers is not. gov.wales/written-statem…

I simply can't fathom NRW Comms agreeing this as a good news story when this is happening across Welsh uplands under NRW management (WG ownership) & via NRW consenting, damaging peatland and rivers. nation.cymru/news/work-unde…

your semi-regular reminder that farmed salmon is a filthy, unethical, serial polluting business.

vote with your wallets please & give salmon a pass in your weekly shop
