Lost track of how long I've tried to subscribe to Disney+. AppleTV says use the app which says use the web (I simplify) which gets me to pay for a subscription but charges my bank £0.00 and then goes round in circles. Typical for a web site that has no way of contacting them.

This seems to sum up the UK. We have millions of children in the UK going hungry (which ruins their futures) and millions in poor housing, and over 6 million people in NHS backlogs. And meanwhile, as the BBC says, billionaires profit out of it. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Trump's lies about Russia's invasion of Ukraine and about the government of President Zelensky become more astonishing by the day. Even more astonishing is to listen to them being repeated by Vice President JD Vance and Defence Secretary Hegseth. All this before we listen to the

These guys sent me a brief email. I am afraid I don’t even remember what Upwork is (no clue even in the name or email!) And then it’s “do not reply”! And it has a contact us link - which after a few minutes stuck in a vast web site I gave up on them as “contact” means FAQ to them

According to the BBC Dan Jarvis our security minister says privacy and security are not at odds and we must have both. How wrong can you be if you interpret UK security as undermining citizens’ privacy, as he does?

Starmer says Trump’s commitment to peace is sincere. No, his commitment to making profit from peace deals is sincere. bbc.co.uk/news/live/c981…

BREAKING: Trump shuts off intelligence to Ukraine, cutting off data for drones, air attacks, and air defense This is a clear and direct violation of the Budapest Memorandum of 1994 - in which US gave security guarantee to Ukraine in exchange for Ukraine giving up nukes and ships

Printing was one of the first applications of printing - Babbage had a printer for his Difference and Analytical Engines for doing maths tables. It's a very basic task yet the latest iPhone can't print reliably! It goes to sleep, then the printer prints lots of blank pages.

The Ministry of Justice wants ideas about how to improve the sorry state of computer evidence. I've put my submission here: harold.thimbleby.net/Thimbleby-MoJ-… (James Christie seldom posts here - he's on Bluesky has also put his excellent submission on line)

All the digital healthcare journals I've looked at want short articles, have a strange idea what 'research' and 'opinion' articles are (they'd define maths as opinion) --- in short, it's no wonder computer science is a mess in medicine. We can't publish decent research.

Why is the extreme politician Farage all over the news when plenty of other parties are far more likely to run the country? Where are they being reported in the media? Why is the BBC so biased? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

What's happening, asks X. Well I emailed the NHS yesterday (in English) and got a reply back in Portugese... "De momento não estamos no escritório. Assim que voltarmos alguém da nossa equipa entrará em contacto consigo."

How many times have you tried to log into a wifi network or a website, you try to create a new login and then you get this, then have to start all over again. Why can't sites say "Welcome back! Why not reset your password seeing as you've even forgotten you've been here before!"

I am a palliative care doctor who is not opposed to AD. But on the eve of tomorrow's vote, it boils down to this. Enshrining in law a state-funded right to die, while not enshrine a similar right to the palliative care that might make life worth living, is deeply wrong. 🧵

Before Brexit the UK was about as rich as Germany, and richer than France. Now it is much poorer than either, by 2030 we will be poorer than Poland, and by 2040 we will be poorer than all 27 EU countries. The magic of Brexit.

It seems with the collapse of any meaningful commitment to a rules-based international order - replaced instead by a raw-power dialogue shaped by might over right - every country in the global South watching Gaza burn and witnessing strikes on Iran is asking the same question:
