Can’t imagine why anyone is leaving an established league like the AJ to play unsanctioned games in an inferior league. At least Brooks still has holahan who helped them go 4-1 thru the WJAC when hicks was absent. Weird move for hicks.

Dalton Macgillivray heading to Drumheller Dragons will be a trade that pays off. They dominated Brooks last Saturday looking like the real deal and only lost because of some late game luck for the bandits. Calling it now- Macgillivray will power a deep drum playoff run.

Incredible pickup for Brooks. They might be rostering the best goalie duo in the league right now. Should be a formidable goaltending tandem come playoff time. Excited to see Zac between the pipes sporting the new threads.

UPDATE: just received word that Onyskiw will NOT be reporting to Brooks. Sounds like a confusing situation which leaves the Bandits in an odd spot as they have games tomorrow and Tuesday and only have one goalie currently rostered. Will confirm for sure later tonight.

Currently catching a lot of heat for my source’s reliability on the goalie situation in Brooks. My source was right once and I’m sure they’ll be right again. For those saying I’m wrong or incorrect, please, just wait until tomorrow to question my credibility. Thank you.

CONFIRMED: AJHL is suspending the five teams leaving - in effect immediately. Just got word that Olds and Blackfalds will not be playing tonight as Olds was told by the league to not show up to Blackfalds. I believe the Brooks- DV game will follow en suite. Will report more soon-

CONFIRMED: Brooks vs Dayton Valley will not be played tonight as DV was told by the league to not report to Brooks to play.

I agree. Why do this to the kids and families when it was the organization’s decision. Tough to defend TheAJHL on this one. Might have been able to handle this better…

Apparently, the Spruce Grove vs Okotoks game might still happen as they are looking for refs. If made possible, this would be the first game of the new divisions. Truly turning a new page in Western Junior Hockey history!

UPDATE: The AJHL has NOT suspended any teams at the moment. The 11 teams who are remaining in the league have decided to refuse to play the 5 who are leaving & the league is yet to declare these games as forfeits, saying they have been “cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.”

This would be must-watch television. Could get messy with these 5 teams playing each other possibly 5-12 more times but would be better than nothing. Then the winner of the 5 would play the winner of the BCHL for a true national championship, not the Centennial “foofoo” Cup.

Had an idea this would happen. Honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about it right now. I’ve been a loyal devotee to the AJHL for the past decade or so and now I face a crossroads. I truly don’t like where Hockey Canada & CJHL are headed - going to do some soul searching.

Nothing like getting back into the season! Super excited to begin my journey following the BCHL and their newest teams. It’s been a long time coming now but I’m ecstatic at the sight of an improved league. Let the games begin!

There’s no way this is real. Sam has spent his entire junior career losing to Brooks every playoff and he’s finally decided that if he can’t beat them, well, guess he’ll join the evil Brooks Bandits empire. This is gonna turn some heads. I’m intrigued.

A tough weekend for the West Kelowna Warriors gets even tougher. After getting embarrassed on home ice by the Brooks Bandits and Vernon Vipers (outscored 10-2 in 2 gp), now the big two, Pridham & Hughes, get picked up in the USHL. Can’t help but feel bad for the historically average org.

Quite the shake up in Jr hockey today. I predict that the CHL will take a major hit and lose high end talent to NCAA. However, jr A hockey will take an even harder hit as high end Jr A players will now look first at playing in the CHL. Jr A will become a farm program for the CHL.

So… this aged like milk. Might’ve gotten the league wrong but there sure was blood in the water. Careful coming down off your high horse. Just a matter of time until Hughes follows en suite. West Kelowna Warriors #notyourguys
