In Ethiopia, an extension to the Hamlin College of Midwives continues. It’s a major step towards ending preventable childbirth injuries. Since 2007, 270+ Hamlin midwives have gone on to serve rural communities, often as the only qualified professional for miles around.

Sister Emebet walks up to 25km to reach the most remote women in Ethiopia. As a Hamlin-trained Senior Midwife Mentor, she’s helping prevent childbirth injuries and save lives. In her area, there are no new cases of obstetric fistula. We need to train more midwives like Emebet.
