Animation schools lean more & more towards teaching Harmony over hand drawn now, but I still think they need to build the foundation on hand drawn (obv). That said, rig-based animation has a lot to offer for education...

I see so many grad reels where it's all on tweens & there aren't enough breakdowns, drawing swaps happening on the key frames like a slap in the face. I'd honestly rather see grad reels on 4s, 6s & 8s, than auto-tweened on 1s. At least I'd get a sense of timing & decision making!

Classic cartoons from the '30s & 40s are some of my all time favourites. The art style, the animation style, the wildly creative slapstick & visual gags (not the racism tho...), but I'm not really into the revival stuff. I totally get the desire to do it, it's just not for me.
