Mrs. Schaller’s class learning about coping strategies! They did a great job making their coping wheels! They had lots of good ideas on how to calm down when frustrated! #WeareLakota #LibertyLeapards

Today in Mrs.Alsip’s class we were flipping our stinkin’ thinkin’ to positive self talk! I was teaching my lesson about social emotional learning. We shared some of our positive thoughts about ourselves with others. #WEareLakota #LibertyLeopards

A1: Safe person for me is someone that will encourage me, listen to what I am saying, and is shows understanding in how I feel. I am grateful for my safe people in my life. #LakotaEdChat

Q2: There are many ways to create a positive culture and safe space. My favorite for students is the calm down area in my office they know they can come to and regulate their bodies. They need to know they are safe. I have a calm down book and fidgets available... #LakotaEdChat

Q3: SEL can change a student’s life for the better. It can help them make friends, help them put tools in their tool belt, teach them ways to calm down and learn to care for others! #LakotaEdChat

Q4: That is a good question! As the school counselor, I talk with the student and then share with the parents. But, if a more intense need we like to have a team help provide resources for the family. We work together to help the child and family. #LakotaEdChat

A5: I could write a lot about this question. I always felt like the school therapist would go deeper into the mental health issues and trauma. They would provide tools, practice, and to help overcome. S.C. is there it support and direct to the best resources for ss. #LakotaEdChat
