Had the opportunity to live a few days in the life of a Physiatrist at the Duke Spine Center. Observed a full day of epidural steroid injections and radiofrequency ablations close up. Such a great experience that I would highly recommend to all SPTs! 💉😷

I had the chance to join the Duke Orthopedic Manual Therapy fellows for didactic on the cervical spine this afternoon. I was their practice patient and my neck movement is now equivalent to an owl. #feelingood 💙

The iliotibial band is the tough band of fibers that run along the outside of the thigh. As the knee is flexed to about 30 degrees, the Iliotibial Band changes from an extensor moment arm to a flexor moment arm (this produces the pivot shift when there is an ACL tear) #knee

Today was my 4th day working as an official physical therapist... Patient: You look young, what is it, your first day on the job? *nudges shoulder jokingly* Me:

I’m a surgeon. But surgery is always the last thing I offer. I start with: Words, advice, education. Lifestyle change. Medical therapy. Minimally invasive therapy. Finally, the knife, laser, drills, burrs, etc. Lots of patience in between.
