OSL dating by Lund Luminescence @LundGeology provide the ages for permafrozen sediments in the Laptev Sea to estimate organic carbon storage, thaw rates and greenhouse gas production in a just published study led by Birgit Wild Bolin Centre for Climate Research. rdcu.be/cUwU2
Getting dressed for success and safety! HF etching of luminescence samples with Edyta Kalińska Lund Luminescence @LundGeology.
I thought we were quite efficient but apparently we were working too slowly. Sediment sampling at Kivik, Scania for an OSL-dating project. @LundGeology Historiska museet vid Lunds universitet
How to teach geology students the tricky science (or art?) of visualising the sometimes invisible in 2D, 3D and 4D was one topic discussed in a fun workshop yesterday with Lena Håkansson and Anders Ahlberg SFU iEarth and colleagues @LundGeology. Got some new ideas to try out!
Popular demonstration by Amber Hood of the SUERC portable OSL reader today at the Lund Luminescence Day. Lund Luminescence @LundGeology
We need more research about storm surges in Sweden, and geological archives are an important part. Conclusions from a report that Caroline Hallin LTH vid Lunds universitet and I @LundGeology presented at Kustmöte 2022 Statens geotekniska institut today. lucris.lub.lu.se/ws/portalfiles….
Returning to @LundGeology from Copenhagen airport after having picked up 50 kg samples from the Svalbard #Cryocarb expedition - raised beaches waiting to be dated Lund Luminescence. Thanks Anders Schomacker for timely delivery!
These glacilacustrine sediments from SE Norway have been dated to ca 56 ka and indicate that the Scandinavian ice sheet was almost completely gone by then. Read all about it here authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S02… Universitetet i Bergen Bjerknessenteret Lund Luminescence @LundGeology Lunds universitet
All the clasts made sampling for luminescence dating tricky and hard on the knees. But what else to expect from a cairn?! Lund Luminescence @LundGeology in collaboration with Sydsvensk Arkeologi.
Tomorrow this should turn into a sediment flume @LundGeology! Excited! DevinSense TecQuipment
First water through the flume! Now installed and working @LundGeology Lund University thanks to Johan and Nils DevinSense with support from TecQuipment. Looking forward to playing with water and sand at work. Oops, I mean studying sedimentological processes of course.
Spending a rainy afternoon at base camp Turun yliopisto - University of Turku's Kevo research station, measuring portable luminescence samples and catching up with field notes. @LundGeology Lund Luminescence USN
Halfway through the fieldwork in Finnmark we have already taken more samples than expected and have to empty, wash and re-use sampling tubes. Good for science, bad for luggage weight. @LundGeology Lund Luminescence
