Nice paper showing elongation influencing initiation. Could it be that the 40S subunit with phosphorylated RPS6 have quicker initiation rates! academic.oup.com/nar/advance-ar…

Surprise surprise! Yet another "transription factor" co-transcriptionally binds the RNA and regulates cytoplasmic events. science.org/doi/full/10.11… I predict that more examples will come, until it will not be the exceotion, but the rule.

The remarkable versatility of ribosome profiling is highlighted in a new study which finds that the translation of specific peroxisomal proteins is localized to the organelle surface. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Nice revelations of the influence on 5'UTRs on translation initiation. The "initiation rate" of 90% of yeast 5'UTRs are within a 20 fold range. Some short sequences have significant influence on TE are identified. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

I must have seen more than 40 tenure-track "job talks" by now. Here are some general reflections on what works and what doesn't work. (1/7)

Such a great chance to meet and talk to Hector for the first time during today's postdoc social. It turns out that we follow each other's research for a while. 🌽🌽🌽 #MGM2023
