I wrote about the untold story of Arab Jews — and how they formed a solidarity movement with Palestinians, producing joint magazines, street protests, and a vision for peace.

You can't understand Israel-Palestine without understanding them. Please read!

'I think it's inconceivable that the IDF wasn't aware that the three vehicles were being driven by the WCK aid workers,' said Charlie Herbert, a former major general in the British Army who served in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Senior US official debunks Israel's top talking point of 'We left Gaza to let it become a Singapore'

David Satterfield says Israel insisted in 2005 on besieging, isolating & starving Gaza instead of heeding US advice to open it up to the world, which then led to Hamas' rise!

I’ve always said that Sam Harris is a reactionary & rather ignorant bigot masquerading as a liberal, & his latest intervention on Gaza, suggesting Hamas “make the Nazis look relatively benign….Nazis didn’t use their own women and children as human shields” is a reminder of that.

“3 changes are critical to stave off famine in Gaza:

1️⃣ Dramatically increasing aid into Gaza
2️⃣ Ensuring aid can move freely across the strip
3️⃣ Allowing civil authorities to safeguard distribution

And our message is clear: a ceasefire offers best chance to implement these.”

🚨Upon his return from Gaza, the president of the World Surgical Foundation says 'Genocide was the overwhelming impression that I got'

He adds 'The world's best marksmen are not gonna shoot a kid in the head twice & in the abdomen'

Iran's attempt to change the demography of Syria is quite extraordinary. 'Even regime loyalists, who in the past saw Iran's presence as strategic, now call it 'occupation'.' @bbc journalist BBCLinaSinjab's piece on returning to Syria after a decade. bbc.com/news/world-mid…

Hungary's influence on EU institutions will continue to be a disruptive one, bringing in far-right perspectives, especially when it comes to Russia. The EU has a strategic decision to consider, but refuses to do so.

BIG NEWS in Bahrain. For the first time since the 2011 Arab spring uprising, a royal pardon was issued yesterday for over 1000 political prisoners released ALL IN ONE GO. It’s also just over 15 yrs since the Saudi ‘incursion’ in March 2011 which marked start of mass incarceration

It's a pleasure to write for the pioneering Tunisian news site Nawaat on the crisis facing the Islamist movement Ennahda. Many of the party's leaders who I've been meeting for years are now in jail because of their political views. What comes next?

If Department of State were serious about evaluating Israel's LOAC compliance, it would conduct its own inquiry into this strike (and many others), including as to whether the targets were civilians or combatants.

Unfortunately, I doubt State is in fact serious about any IHL assessment.

Let’s be clear: Relatives of combatants that are not involved in the fighting are civilians. Even political leaders—if uninvolved in military ops—are not legitimate targets under laws of war. Deliberate attacks on civilians are heinous war crimes that have no justification. Ever.
