A rare movement of a Blue Tit via one of our ringers recently - moving 198km and across the Irish Sea, from Wicklow to Flintshire! There are very few records of Blue Tits moving across the Irish Sea even though nearly 70,000 have been ringed in Ireland and >5 million in the UK!

It’s a wrap. The 2025 Kent Lesser Spotted Woodpecker Survey period has now finished! It’s been another interesting year with the usual jaw dropping and frustrating moments thrown in! Thanks to everyone who took part. It would be impossible without your dedication and effort.

Fantastic news 19 Lesser Spotted Woodpecker nests found & being watched/monitored by our volunteers. Most have 4 chicks, well fed by the adults. Nests are so difficult to find & these are only a tiny proportion of the 2000+ LSW pairs in Britain, but all very positive this year.
