Mimi Haleyi says she “has to take a minute” before deciding whether to testify against Weinstein again.

“It was so much more than the public saw. I was harassed: it was gruelling. I wish it was as easy as saying ‘sure, I’ll do it again’ - but you have no idea.”

Haleyi: “I knew that there was a chance it might happen; but I thought it was a small chance. In New York I believe only 4pc of convictions are overturned. I definitely hoped it would have been behind me at this point.”

Asked Mimi whether she has been in touch with the other five women who testified alongside her against #Weinstein - & whether they encouraged her for retrial.
“We haven’t really touched upon that, but I did speak briefly with Jessica (Mann). We’re still just processing the news.”

Haleyi on hearing the #Weinstein news: “I felt sick to my stomach. And my heart sank. But there is a lot happening in the world making me sick to the stomach. It’s another insane day, where you can’t believe it is real.”

Allred: “I am worried about the impact of this decision on survivors coming forward, because they feel they may not be believed if they do. In addition, prosecutors may feel it is more difficult without prior bad act witnesses, and therefore decide not to charge the defendant.”

Allred says she “has communicated with someone” at the Manhattan DA’s office, but they are yet to speak.

The DA has not yet reached out to them about participating in a new trial.

Mimi Haley: “As retraumatising as it was, I will consider testifying again in another trial. While the Molineau witnesses will not be allowed to testify, I believe it gave them a crucial day in court.”

Aidala says that the four women who testified in support of the women pressing charges against Weinstein were irrelevant to the case. “They were admitted to show he was a bad guy. He was tried on his character, not the facts.”

Aidala, asked if he thinks Weinstein will walk free, says he thinks the California appeal is even stronger than the NY one.

Aidala, asked about transfer to California prison, would not comment.

Says instead that Weinstein will be brought before a Manhattan judge again and the case “starts from the beginning” - adds that if Bragg wants to drop the case, they “won’t object.”
