Great to hear Steve Reed MP this morning setting out his ambition to clean up the nation's waterways. As well as the powers to hold water companies to account, improve enforcement, and increase monitoring, there was more in the speech that was heartening to hear...🧵

📜The crowd was very excited at the announcement of a full review to shape legislation on how the entire water system works. This will be done for the long-term (legislative agenda this year already full) with the aim of cleaning up our rivers, lakes and seas.

A Public Nature Estate would be an exciting way to ensure the benefits of nature for everyone. A brave government would: 🏞️ bring more land into public ownership & restore nature: woodlands, wetlands, County Farms. 🌳 recognise & reward public interest in important private land.
