Molokai radar is down and out, which means it's impossible to see any moisture over Oahu and parts of Maui county. NWS says parts are on order, expected outage time is unknown.weather.gov/hfo/FTM

Yup, you got it. Daytime heating causes rising hot air, that air mass condenses at the higher altitudes. Normally, with stronger winds the rising moisture gets dispersed, however with the light winds, clouds form and build producing spotty downpours.
