"Third place in a Diamond League is not something that is easy to come by." Reaction from Sarah Healy after her 8:27.02 3000m PB in Rabat. 🎥 Diamond League AG

Ah, this is a bonkers good version of ‘The Logical Song’ from a San Francisco kids band ‘The Graystones’. This was originally from 1979, peak - Supertramp….Can’t get over how cool it is to hear it delivered like this a couple of generations on….

And a second win 🏆 of the season for Mark English ….twice under 1.45 and still not into the real meat of the season…. The doctor is flying….in the form of his life….eleven years after his first major championship senior medal. Next stop, sub 1.44….

Greg Allen (@gregallenrte) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Worth remembering that Mark is quick over 400m (No 14 Irish All Time) & the added strength he’s been working on is leading to him being able to use his natural speed in the last 100m. He’s really backing himself tactically. 2 wins & 2 sub 1.45’s is a terrific start to the season.

It might have taken a while (and committees change over years) but Naas Golf Club is a beautiful parkland course. While the back 9 refurb was overdue, it really was worth the wait to match the earlier initial front 9 remodel. Excellent example of an Irish parkland members-owned course…

Sean Doggett is defo one to watch. Love the way he gave it his ‘all’ here right to the line. On a windy day, Gregan’s record was a big ‘ask’ but he smashed it. Worth remembering that Gregan set the previous record just weeks before crossing the line 5th in the World Junior final.

Listening to Laura Davies on Sky commentary referencing power hitting off the tee. It reminded me of following her at the Irish Ladies Open at St Margaret’s in 1995. She struck a huge ball down 15, 90 yards past her playing partner. Only a wedge into the par 5. Drive was 309yds…

Oh, and there was this about the 1995 Irish Ladies Open: Laura Davies recorded a 72-hole total of 267 (−25), 16 strokes clear of runner-up Åsa Gottmo, setting world records for the lowest aggregate score and the biggest margin of victory in women's professional golf at the time.

WHAT TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN JUNE Sarah Healy (Rome & Paris) and Rhasidat Adeleke (Oslo) are among the Irish athletes competing in the Diamond League in June. There's also European Team Champs, NCAA Div I finals, several CT meetings & some domestic action. trackathletes.ie/articles/europ…

The quality of the goals here from Peru…😳…I know the game has moved on in 47 years but Cubillas was & is a true great. One of only 3 players to score 5 or more goals at 2 World Cups. The outside foot strike for the free kick regarded one of the greatest ever dead ball strikes.

Greg Allen (@gregallenrte) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Cannot emphasise how important this win is for Sarah Healy. Forget the time (good as it was), this performance was about having patience to hang well behind bad piece pacemaking to execute a great race & so a win for Sarah Healy & this one in a Diamond League. Big building block.

A full second faster than Cathal Doyle has ever run for 1500m. Think of that on track distance terms…at least 7 metres….

For me it’s what Sarah Healy says at the end of this interview that matters most… For an athlete who has struggled with race execution to find her place among the elite, these words mean a lot: “I’m having fun and that’s the main thing and probably why I’m running so well..”
