I only have 3 more weeks until I start going into the office to prep…my list of things that have come to mind since summer started is very long.

My birthday is in 3 days and I’m in denial that it’s coming. Not because it’s my 30th birthday but because I’m an introvert 🙃

A perfect Saturday for cooking snack foods and cuddling on the couch with the pups and baby. 2 more weeks until going back to the office so I’m enjoying every last minute.

Placed 16th out of 58 teams at Harry Potter trivia (not bad!). Also ran into 3 students from my first year of teaching that worked there and they were old enough to serve alcohol 😳. Their work ethic though on serving so many people tonight was incredible!

There is something about getting up before everyone in the house, making breakfast and coffee and turning on the news. It’s so peaceful.

This is genius…I have an emergency drawer for students who need like feminine products or a snack but this right here….pure genius.

Just got home from buying expo markers, a huge bag of jolly ranchers and a pint of ice cream…this Monday hit hard. Tomorrow is a new day.

My weekend. 40 students brought to Cedarmore to sing, bond and have fun. we ended our Saturday evening with singing songs by the campfire and making s’more’s. #choirlife #blessed

A HUGE thank you goes out to the Red Army at Christ Church UM !! I called on my second family to help my “kids” who needed assistance paying for choir retreat and they came through!! 12 students had their weekend entirely covered by this amazing church choir ❤️

First concert was last night! This year, my personal goal is to challenge my students with music literacy and musical expression. I am very proud of their performance last night and I can’t wait to get started again tomorrow on winter music!! #tistheseason

Lunch break from PD and saw one of my piano students working at the restaurant I got my food from. The smile on this students face when they saw me made my day! 💙💙

This…I know too many teachers that have side jobs to make ends meet. It’s the rural counties, that really need the pay raise to compete with the big city counties. I am a proud Shelby County teacher but I’m also lucky to have my husbands income.

There are teachers that can’t afford rent/mortgage because of pay. No one should have to work a second job to make ends meet. We do this job for the kids, but we should be compensated.

Kentucky ranks 44th in the nation for starting teacher pay. That's unacceptable. We can – and we must – do better.

Why….there are more important things that need to be addressed for Kentucky education!
