Moral paralysis. If Putin started using gas in Kyiv, you’d change your tone as would anyone with the ability to morally triage horrific events. And if your position remained the same as the gas fell, then you’re useless to the free world.

An example of what celebrities can do for Ukraine: Today David Beckham handed over his Instagram account with 71 million followers to Iryna, a Ukrainian doctor from Kharkiv who is caring for Ukrainian civilians under Russian attack. #Ukraine #UkraineUnderAttack #UkraineRussiaWar

On 19 August 1939 Stalin's Soviet Union began a new era in economic cooperation with Nazi Germany, in which Moscow would supply Berlin with oil. 1/

Sometimes you forget Russia paid a Dutch-led salvage project 44mil to get the Kursk submarine the size of two jumbo jets with two nuclear engines off the sea bed when a leaking missile detonated in the tube. But whatever. #RussiaUkraineWar

Over 70 years, the Queen presided over the transformation of Britain, away from empire and into a modern European country, with elegance and grace. Now that we know how ugly a revanchist ex-imperial leader can be, we have all the more reason to be grateful for her.

We took a closer look at the video in which a man, who strongly resembles a Putin associate, Yevgeny Prigozhin, promises inmates release from prison in return for a six-month combat tour in Russia's war against Ukraine: nytimes.com/2022/09/16/wor…

Such a powerful televised moment. The direction and beautiful camera work of the BBC. The discipline and silence. The civility of the British people is unsung beyond belief. #queensfuneral

Looking at all of this from a great distance, of course, but wouldn’t the best economic, trade, and financial policy for Great Britain just now be to join the European Union...?

He’s lost, but that doesn’t mean he can’t go out with a bang. How do we - Ukraine and the rest of us under nuclear threat - negotiate the tricky route ahead?

1/10 Being in prison drops you to the bottom of the Maslow pyramid. You know, the one from the textbooks, where on the first level you want to survive and eat, and on the higher levels you want to go to the theater or become a rock star, or a monk.

Look, here’s the thing: as a Ukrainian, I don’t always agree with Zelenskyy’s domestic policy, and I often question and criticise what his team is doing — especially when it comes to stuff like healthcare, education, and culture. I distrust and outright dislike quite a few people

In April 2016, I broke the story of Trump and Putin, using Russian open sources. Afterwards, I heard vague intimations that something was awry in the FBI in New York, specifically counter-intelligence and cyber. We now have a suggestion as to why. 0/20

If you know: 1) Russia interfered in the '16 election on behalf of Trump and 2) the one thing they really wanted was weakening Ukraine support ...then it's really hard to square being both patriotic and against Ukraine aid right now 1/7
