Lina Khan. In the Bronx. On 60 Minutes. Doesn’t get any better than that! Tune in right now on CBS - we’re showing how taking on corporate power is opening up opportunities for small businesses and working families everywhere.

When I saw that The Real Deal and Erik Engquist published a "takedown" of #HomesAct I was going to try to pressure them to let me publish a rebuttal. Except 1) they didn't read/understand the proposal, 2)there's not one fact worth debating here, just empty platitudes.

Our latest op-ed on the #HomesAct recently introduced by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Tina Smith w/ gianpaolo baiocchi. Our housing system isn’t working — we need a public option  thehill.com/opinion/financ…

thehill.com/opinion/financ… We got blowback on #HomesAct from real estate while “business as usual” wonks won’t lift their heads out of the sand. But Jake Carlson and I show, based on collab with Climate & Community Institute, that case for robust public option is housing is urgent and undeniable.

Reminded, on this murder ridden day, that the Democratic Party removed death penalty abolition from its official platform this past August.

💔for Marcellus Williams. In NY, the death penalty was ruled unconstitutional in 2004 & the statute was removed our laws in 2018. However, we still leave many to die in prison, even when they are elderly, terminally ill, disabled. That’s an overly cruel fate, too. Release Aging People in Prison Campaign

More people across the US are experiencing climate disasters, forcing them to leave or lose their homes. Insurers are leaving us behind. No one is talking about the problems driving the crisis or offering solutions. Our new report provides a path forward. climateandcommunity.org/research/share…

This has been true for years: when we co-host events at NYUs “KJCC” I always refer to it as the “Mister Juan Carlos Center” at bc in democracies we don’t - or shouldn’t - recognize royal authority. I wonder that means I now get an invite to Sheinbaum’s inauguration.

Sell out New Yorkers to enrich landlords and billionaires, and your time will run out. This is just the start. Every real estate-bought politician has to go.

Holy shit. "Your policies are anti-Black!! You are a disgrace to all Black people in this city!" Eric Adams press conference being righteously disrupted right now.

We're following from afar this inspiring and important work. Would be a powerful precedent! What is that Paulo Freire quote on KCTU materials? "What can we do now in order to be able to do tomorrow what we are unable to do today?"

Born in abject poverty, raised mostly by a single mother, and sent to work at age eight, Lula has become perhaps the most voted-for person on the planet. gianpaolo baiocchi on Fernando Morais’s LULA: A BIOGRAPHY, published by Verso Books: bostonreview.net/articles/lulas…

Sharing a piece I just did in Boston Review on the new Morais biography of Lula. Bottom line: we need more Lulas! bostonreview.net/articles/lulas…
